About me

I am Emma and I'm the creative maker behind the projects you see here on the blog. For as long as I can remember I've had a passion for making things and this space is where I get to share my ideas with you. When I was a child, I was always trying, and often failing, to bring my creative ideas to life. As an adult, I'm still trying to find ways to express my creativity and I'm still regularly failing too. Behind my polished and staged photos, there are plenty of huge messes. The difference now is that I'm just not afraid to try something new. To me, creating something is as much about the process as it is the end product and there's no such thing as failure - it's all a great big work in progress.

12 years ago my husband and I moved from England to America with our 3 month old baby boy. Whilst my husband was at work all day and I was a SAHM in a new country, I needed a creative outlet to keep me busy and my husband surprised me with a sewing machine for my birthday. 12 years, a few house moves, and another child later, here I am. I haven't really stopped making stuff since.

Why the name Hello Beautiful? Way back when I first started making things to sell, I set up an etsy shop. I made lovely messenger bags mostly, using gorgeous Japanese Kokka fabrics. I wanted my customers to have a sweet surprise when they looked inside their bag, so I made little labels with the message 'Hello Beautiful' printed on them. I just wanted people to smile a little and the name kind of stuck.

Here at Hello Beautiful, you'll find a mixture of sewing, paper crafting and general DIY projects for the home.

I'm always open to working with companies big and small so feel free to reach out and get in touch.

  1. I'm interested in viewing the post of how to transfer handwritten recipes to tea towels.
