Curly hair, don't care.

Truth be told, I'm not one to do a lot with my hair. It's long. It's thick. It's dry at the ends. It gets in my face. Don't get me wrong, I DO love my hair to look nice. It's just that the length of time I put in to styling my hair does not usually produce the results I'd like, and I REALLY don't have much extra time to spend only getting mediocre results. I'm a mum. I work. My kids do things. I don't have the luxury of hours to spend getting ready for a night out or...
special occasion. And creating CURLS?! It's difficult with my hair. I have heating tongs but they've always left me with damaged hair that feels like frayed rope and it only lasts an hour until it's all dropped out and I really may has well have not bothered.

Hello Curlformers. Did you ever wrap your hair in rags of fabric when you were younger? I did. You'd end up with spiral curls when you took them out. It's was fun. It was girly. But it was fiddly. Curlformers remind me a little of rags, only MUCH easier and quicker to use and there are a variety of curl styles, so you can find the style that suits you.

I was recently sent a set of barrel style curls to try out and I'm sharing the results with you. There are some instructional videos on their website, but once you get the hang of using them they are very straightforward. I managed to put my whole head in Curlformers in less that 30 mins. You put them in when your hair is wet and then you allow it to dry, either naturally or using a hair dryer. I recommend you REALLY take the time to let your hair dry completely.
My hair takes an age to dry, so I left them in for longer than necessary...just in case. Plus, you look really fun when you have them in. Granted, I didn't leave the house or answer any knocks on the door, but I actually did enjoy looking like this. You can't take yourself too seriously with giant purple springs in your hair.

Ok, see where my hair is dry on the top? Don't take that as an indication that the rest of the hair is dry.  Let your whole head dry. COMPLETELY. Got it? Good.

Taking them out is as easy as putting them in. When I removed each Curlformer, I ran a tiny blob of product through the curl, but that was it. I hate my hair to feel sticky or weighed down so I just put in enough to control the natural frizz my hair always seems to have.

Here's the results immediately after taking the Curlformers out, without combing or running my fingers through my hair (as tempting as that was). I really like how the curls seem to have brought out a shine in my hair and highlights the different colors I have.

So, the night I used them, I was going out so I did comb my hair through lightly and here's what that looked like.

Can you tell that I love it? So soft and bouncy and because I hadn't used heated tongs, my hair hasn't been damaged at all.

Want to know something else that's awesome? At midnight (after my night out) my hair was still lovely and wavy. I've NEVER had the curl last this long with heated tongs before. Here's some unflattering cell phone pictures to show you what my hair looked like at midnight.

You can find out more about Curlformers on their website. It's safe to say that I'll never use heated tongs again.

sorry the link is so long??? Anyway, she says it's a game changer, she can wash her hair on a more flexible schedule as she sure can't blow dry it and it takes so long to dry.

  7. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog
and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours would cost
a pretty penny? I'm not very internet smart so I'm not 100% positive. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
